#Microsoft Teams just overtook #Slack in monthly active users. Not surprising considering the Office install base and the fact that “Business Essentials” offers Teams with email, internal web hosting, and cloud storage for less than Slack by itself. https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2019/07/microsoft-teams-is-now-officially-bigger-than-slack/

what are the best computer science books released in recent years? i really enjoyed 'domain modeling made functional' by @ScottWlaschin and looking for other hidden gems.
@rosa I personally do not “fight” at all in the context of technology divas. But from a managerial POV, they would rather get rid of a 10x engineer and replace her with a bunch of 0.5x dudes. More grateful and compliant bodies in the rows of tobacco to look down on from horseback😇
Me: Wow I work remote now. I’m going to travel the whole world.
Me six months later: Hi I’d like to cancel my co-working membership I’m finding it difficult to leave my house and drive the ten minutes it takes to get here. Also putting on shoes seems like a lot of effort.

Yesterday I bought a drum kit. Today I have a drum kit installed in my home office, and a ludicrous amount of cardboard to recycle. (To anticipate the next question: Roland TD-17KV. And no, I haven't drummed before. Very enthusiastic complete beginner.)
@jonskeet Ah, splendid and resplendid old boy! Now do consider:
- the 4-4 beat is a military march convention —not a destination
- the talking drum was the first wireless mobile device
- the polyrhythmic ensemble is a traditional symbol of how individuals should work together

Anyone following me know any doctoral candidates or PhD's who have studied or are studying Black and Latinx penetration into high wage work? RT for reach please.
@karlitaliliana There was a book from the 1980s called «Black Life in Corporate America» that really could use a 21st century update with 21st century data science😇
@BryanWilhite I'll check it out. I'm trying to figure out our penetration into high wage industries and attrition between college educated workers and high wage workers. I have a theory, with some scattered data from different industries but want a more unified data set.
.@saronyitbarek your latest #commandlineheroes podcast is going in a great direction😇 keep up the historical exploration into the human side of tech, following in the @cringely tradition («Triumph of the Nerds»)
